i'm carrying your light Chase puts his phone in his pocket and sighs, leaning against a lamppost. He's called his mom too many times for him to count at this point, and yet she still hasn't picked up. Of course, it's completely possible she just was busy, but he still can't shake the feeling that maybe, just maybe, something is actually wrong. The thought scares him. "She's fine," he says to himself, shaking his head. He can't convince himself, though. C'mon, Chase, you know you've always been a worrier. She's fine. She always has been.
He shakes his head again, pushing those thoughts to the back of his mind. How about a walk, ol' boy? Those always make you feel better. True, it's probably the dog part of him that likes walking a lot, but he still can't find any reason other than that to disagree. Walks are pretty awesome.
It's about five minutes before he inevitably runs into somebody, like he always does. Chase stumbles for a moment before looking at the person he ran into. "Ah! I'm so sorry, man- you okay?"

Cecil hummed to himself as he walked down the sidewalk. Everything seemed to sparkle. Cecil felt like he was sparkling, too. I'm lucky today~ I'm so happy the watermelon was marked off. He adjusted his grip on the watermelon because his arms were starting to get tired. The watermelon was so heavy! But, it would be worth it in the end. He couldn't wait to get home and show Cecelia. Cecil was focused on where he was walking, and he kept an eye on the watermelon. It would be a shame if he dropped it. He had to be careful. It was the perfect watermelon! No harm could come to it. Or... he was careful at the time. Cecil bumped into someone, and he looked around because that guy just appeared out of nowhere! The watermelon slipped out of his grasp and fell to the ground. "Noooo! That was like the perfect watermelon, and I got it for a decent price!" Cecil was mostly talking to himself... and the watermelon. He picked it up and checked it all over for any damage. "It looks fine.. oh, no. Wait, there's a dent." He sounded and looked a bit disappointed that his perfect watermelon was ruined. He lifted his green gaze from the watermelon to the guy he ran into. "Yes, I'm fine~ It's a shame that the watermelon had to suffer, though." he laughed and smiled at the man. "Are you okay?"

i'm carrying your light Chase gasps as he notices the poor watermelon on the ground, slapping a hand over his mouth. "Oh- oh my gosh, I'm so sorry about the watermelon!" he apologizes again. It has a dent in it now? "I'll buy you another watermelon if you want me to-" He pauses and gives the redhead a somewhat dumbstruck look. He was asking Chase if he was okay? After his watermelon had nearly been destroyed? "Of course I'm okay, but I gotta buy you a new watermelon to make up for that one!" Without thinking, he starts running to the nearest store, leaving Cecil behind.
He's about two buildings away when he realizes he doesn't even know where the nearest store is. He stops, turns around, and runs back to Cecil.
"So...I don't know where the nearest store is," he admits, laughing nervously. His cheeks are the slightest bit pink- Chase isn't one to be embarrassed easily but something like this will do it. "But I'm still willing to buy you another watermelon. Or carry that one. Or anything you need. I'm Chase, by the way. He offers his hand for the redhead to shake for a moment, before realizing that he's probably busy carrying the watermelon, then he takes it back again, smiling sheepishly. @cecerawr LAIKA OF ADOXOGRAPHY

Cecil laughed lightly and held the watermelon in his arms. "No, no, no. It's okay! It didn't have much harm come to it. It's really no big deal." He hoped that the guy would relax after hearing that. Nope! The guy was already running off to go get another watermelon. Wait, WHAT! Where did he go?! That guy was super fast. I'm going to name him, Flash! Or, super flashy flash! Okay, that was a really bad name. Chase came running back and Cecil was relieved that he returned. He blinked his green eyes at him and thought for a moment. "Uh.. yeah. It's okay. This watermelon is still good to eat." The redhead walked up to Chase and handed the watermelon over to him. "Here. If you want to pay me back, please carry this. My arms are tired from hauling it around." he said and tilted his head with a bright smile on his face. "It's nice to meet you, Chase~ I'm Cecil."
"Oh! By the way, you are like super fast! You gotta tell me how you do it. Are you like a superhuman? It was cool! It would be like flash I'm here and flash I'm there. I'm going to name you, Flash! That will be your nickname. Mhm~"

i'm carrying your light [[ I M IN ACTUAL TEARS. My original version of Chase legit has super speed and I'm just- I'm dying. This is hilarious. ]]
"Are you sure? Completely, absolutely positive? You're not just saying that to make me feel better?" Chase asks, deathly serious, because sometimes people do that and he wants to be certain that Cecil isn't just trying to be nice. "Oh. Okay." He accepts the task of handling the watermelon perhaps a little eagerly, all too ready to do anything to make it up to Cecil.
He stiffens for a moment when Cecil asks if he's a superhuman, panicking for just a moment when he thinks he almost gave himself away. He quickly hides it, though. "Oh? No, no, not a superhuman," he laughs. Chase feels a little bad, but technically it's not a lie, right? The lie would be if he said he was human- or rather, completely human. He can't help but snort at Cecil's nickname for him. "Pff- Flash, huh? Mom always called me Bullet, actually. I've kinda just always been fast, I guess." Which technically was also true. He neglects to mention that being part-dog helps in the speed department, though. LAIKA OF ADOXOGRAPHY

The redheaded boy shook his head and grinned at the man. "Hehe~ Nope!" Chase was really a nice guy! Some people thought Cecil was odd because his positive personality seemed to be suspicious in a way. However, he was as innocent as he could be. "Oh? No, no, not a superhuman," That response made Cecil a bit disappointed. His bottom lip quivered because he thought he actually had the chance of meeting a superhuman. That would be so cool! His green eyes flickered, and he met Chase's gaze. "You can't be! You must be a superhuman. Don't worry! I won't tell anyone. It'll be our secret. Wow! This is so cool!" Cecil got his hopes up again but he didn't care. He really believed that Chase was a superhuman with his speed. It was amazing. It completely blew his mind away. "Soooo, what were you doing before we made the poor watermelon suffer? Were you out for a run? It's a beautiful day!"

i'm carrying your light Chase laughed again, but this time his voice cracked, betraying how nervous the idea of being a 'superhuman' made him. "I'm really not," he mumbled, shifting the watermelon he was carrying. "I didn't even run all that fast." Some dogs were fast but they weren't that fast.
"Not running. Just walkin'. Thinking. Which a lot of people think I don't do, and that's a pretty good point because often I don't, but once in a while I actually do." He moved the watermelon again, suddenly realizing how cumbersome it was just to carry. "And you? Already doing groceries on your own?" Cecil didn't seem all too much younger than Chase was, but even Chase forgot to go out to get food sometimes. LAIKA OF ADOXOGRAPHY

"Oh?" Cecil said and tilted his head, blinking his green eyes blankly. "Well, you run faster than anybody that I know." He started to walk and gestured for Chase to follow him to his house. He didn't want Chase to hold it longer than he needed to. Oh.. wait. Does this mean I should introduce him to my mom and sister? Maybe I should invite him inside to have some watermelon. After all, it's the least I could do since he's carrying it for me. Cecil looked at Chase and looked a little confused. "Oh? Does that mean you aren't a very thoughtful person?" he blurted out. "W-well, I mean.. someone that just doesn't think a lot about things? Oh, gosh. This is coming out so wrong!"
His cheeks turned a bashful red, and he looked ahead of him so he didn't walk into a pole or something. "I do it a lot, actually. My sister, Cecelia, is the chef in the house. She took after our mother in the culinary arts. I'm a pretty good chef if I do say so myself but for some reason Cecelia won't let me help her in the kitchen. EVER. So, I do the grocery shopping.." he drifted off with a sad tone in his voice. He was unaware that Cecelia wouldn't let him help because he was an awful cook, and he would turn the kitchen into a disaster.
"H-hey!" he piped up and put on a smile. "When we get to my house, would you like to have some of that watermelon? Oooh! We could go hop in the lake, too! You look like you might be able to fit into my clothes soooo what do ya say?"

i'm carrying your light Chase bit his lip to keep from snorting as Cecil fumbled with his words. He wasn't offended in the least by the teen's phrasing- it was clearly accidental, anyway. Cecil seemed to quick to correct his mistake to have a mean bone in his body. "No, no, not that," Chase laughed a little. "Nah. I've just been called an airhead. And stupid. By lots of people- which sounds depressing, but I don't really let it get to me." He shrugged as best he could with the watermelon in his arms. He used to, though. He used to let it get to him, when he was younger, but since then he'd learned to ignore it, for the most part.
There are still times when he thinks he is stupid. There are times when he lets those words hurt. He pushed the thought away. This was not the time.
"I'm sure it's nothing personal," Chase said when he noticed that Cecil seemed a little put down about the whole thing. "Cecelia not letting you cook, I mean." Eek. Cecil and Ceceilia? That was going to be hard to keep track of.
Chase almost dropped the watermelon when Cecil asked him if he wanted to go swimming. "Uh-" he sputtered for a moment, still surprised by the offer. And while he usually didn't have animal characteristics to expose, if he got too excited (and the idea of swimming usually got him excited) he would. He couldn't take the chance to giving himself away again. "Can't," he answered, smile becoming nervous as opposed to genuine. "I mean I'd love to, don't get me wrong, but, uh...can't. Busy. With stuff." He wanted to smack himself- he couldn't even come up with a proper excuse? "I mean, we've only just met, it'd be weird, and I'm carrying this because I made you drop it in the first place, so..." LAIKA OF ADOXOGRAPHY

Cecil puffed up his cheeks with air in anger and put his hands on his hips. "That's not very nice of them. But, hey, I don't let it get to me either~" He had also been called stupid, an airhead, naive, and rude. Why rude, though? Every once in a while there was a girl that would try to ask Cecil out. He was kind of clueless in that subject so he would often accidentally offend a girl which would leave him with a red hand print on his cheek. Cecil was confused. He never could understand girls. They were so mean! "Uh-" The redhead looked at Chase with a big smile on his face, hoping the man would say yes. "Can't."
"O-oh..." Cecil looked down at the ground, and his green eyes were starting to tear up. Why couldn't he make any friends? He wanted one desperately, and that wasn't always a good thing. He could put himself in danger with the wrong people he tries to make friends with or he could be influenced to do bad things to fit in with those dangerous people. "I mean I'd love to-" "No, it's fine." he tried to cut Chase off so he wouldn't have to hear the rest of his excuse. Cecil forced a smile on his face and looked at Chase, extending out his arms to take the watermelon. "You've carried it far enough. I can handle it from here~ Thank you!"
