personality

basic ▪ chase is a friendly, outgoing person. he can seem like an airhead, and often can be oblivious, but is smarter than he initially appears. he can get distracted easily, often stopping in the middle of his sentence if something else catches his eye. you'll often find him with a smile on his face, though if you catch him off guard, that might not be the case. at times, he can rush into things without thinking, but he always has the best of intentions. he likes people, and trusts in them too easily. he is willing to forgive too quickly, even if his trust has been broken, and though he knows some people don't deserve it, he will always be willing to give a second chance. he likes to be optimistic, and tell other people to look on the bright side of things, even if it's hard for him to do the same.

quirks ▪ his tail often wags, and to hide it, chase bites his bottom lip instead. he's not sure why that works. he's also very expressive, since he needs an outlet for the tail wagging, and uses many hand gestures while talking. and he rambles. when he's nervous, he'll run a hand through his hair.

history

chase's mother, willa, was a halfblood husky and wolf mix, and his father, peter, was a human. they weren't married when chase was conceived, and peter left only months before chase was born, upon discovering that willa was a halfblood. he didn't expose either of them, but he disappeared entirely from willa's life, and didn't return even when chase was born. he likely went off to start a different family, but neither chase nor willa know for sure, and chase doesn't care to find out. willa raised chase entirely on her own, which was often stressful, but they managed. they moved around a lot, sometimes because of paranoia, other times just so they wouldn't even get too comfortable in one place, but neither minded it, since any place was home if they were together. she was able to teach him how to hide his animal characteristics, even without any sort of magical ability, and they lived happily on their own for many years, willa and chase against the world. they often stargazed together, which is one of the reasons he is so fond of the night sky, even now.

school was difficult for chase, and he was often bullied on account of not being "manly enough" or because he was an airhead. he liked playing with girls, and his favorite color was (and is) light pink. luckily it wasn't bad enough to leave any permanent damage, though he still will get nervous around any clearly threatening and ill-meaning figures, even if he tries to be friendly to them. despite this, chase managed to get through school fine until college, where he started studying astronomy and mechanics for two years, until an incident occurred that revealed him to be a halfblood to a few of his classmates. he panicked and fled the state, leaving his mother behind. he didn't tell her that he was going, or why, for fear of putting her more at risk than she already was.

after a few months, he attempted to contact her repeatedly, only to be met with silence. worried that she had been hurt or worse, he returned to their home only to find the walls and floor of the living room splattered with her blood, and the scent of death heavy in the air. he stayed only long enough the items that held the most sentimental value to them before an hbes agent stationed to watch the house followed him and attempted to kill him on sight. he slipped through a portal to haven, luckily with nothing more than a deep scratch, and has been mourning, healing, and adjusting to his new life in haven.
