Chase Anderson
Rayn Trice walked through the tunnels underneath of the city. He had travelled here because he wanted time away from the Haven, because it was all too new to him. A safe place for half-bloods. Who had ever heard of such a thing? His black boots sprung up dirt with each step he took, some of it clinging to the soles of the boots. His hands lay tucked away inside of the pockets of his black hoodie, which was drawn over his head, covering most of his hair, but allowing his long, black bangs to breathe. He stopped and gently scanned his destination. An old abandoned house in the tunnels. It was nothing special. Two floors, holes everywhere, loose boards, beams, cobwebs. But his favorite part was the peace and quiet. He hadn't got some time alone to himself in a while, and cherished each and every second of it.
He climbed up to the second floor, by grabbing a sturdy beam and pulling himself up. He carefully made his way to the corner of the room, where there was a long sturdy board, maybe 6 by 8 feet in area, and sat there, leaning his back against the wall, stretching his legs out, and shutting his eyes.
He allowed himself to drift out of the real world, so to speak, and go into one of daydreams. He imagined himself in a forest, in his wolf form, free, running, the wind in his face, and just enjoying it. He smiled at the thought as he lay there, in the calm and peaceful serenity of this new spot.

i'm carrying your light Chase had honestly discovered the entrance to the tunnels by accident. He'd been there before, actually, several times. Once in a while he and mom would come to visit, though never for too long. They hadn't come back for a while, though. He'd been investigating a draft in an old house where there shouldn't have been an air-flow when he stumbled upon newer scent trails, and realized that it was an entrance to the Underground.
Having nothing better to do, he stumbled in and started to wander. The familiarity of the place did well to keep his mind off his troubles, if only briefly. He rather missed it, actually- having a place where he didn't have to worry about being revealed, even if didn't last too long. It was still nice. He remembered the Underground being a little more crowded, though. There were various half-bloods and animals wandering about, yes, but not quite as many as there used to be. He began to wonder where they all had gone, but decided against it mid-thought. It might be better if he didn't ask.
Chase paused in front of one of the older looking buildings. He wasn't entirely sure why it caught his eye. It seemed abandoned, yet there was a fresh scent heading inside. Human form, but there was a hint of canine on the trail. Maybe another dog? It seemed a bit too wild, though, more like his mom's scent. Her animal form had been half-wolf- that could be closer to it. Against his better judgement, he entered (the door was already ajar), following the scent up to the second floor. He did his best to ignore the fact that whoever had lived there had left all their belongings, and that they were all covered in a thick layer of dust. They hadn't been planning to leave.
"Hello?" he asked, breaking the eerie silence that had settled on his shoulders. "Anyone in here?" LAIKA OF ADOXOGRAPHY

Ray perked up once he picked up the scent of someone. They didn't smell like a half-blood, however. They had a faint animal scent to them, however. 'Maybe he is a quarter?' he thought to himself. He shifted into his wolf form, unaware of who was there. He stayed down low to the ground, trying to avoid detection. He decided to shift back to human form once he had jumped down to the bottom floor.
However, he wasn't thinking, and he landed onto a loose floorboard. Shifting into human form once he hit the ground, the floor gave out underneath him, and he didn't hear the cracks until it was to late. He fell several feet down, and landed onto his back. He got the wind knocked out of him, and struggled to catch his breathe.
He rolled over onto his stomach, and then onto his back again. He sat up, rubbing his back, which was becoming quite sore, mumbling a few curse words under his breath while looking at the hole above him. He didn't know this place had a basement, so how was he supposed to know the floors would give out?

i'm carrying your light The scent changed after Chase spoke out, this time turning fully animal. It was then that Chase was able to tell the half-blood in the room, whoever they were, was a full wolf. He had to squint to see anything though, and even then, all he saw was a sort of large, blurry dark shape. "Hey- there's no need to shift, I'm not here to hurt yo-" He didn't have the chance to finish the sentence before the blur jumped away onto the floor below through a hole in the tiles.
He didn't see what happened next, but the crash was loud enough that he winced and covered his eyes for a moment. It had sounded like wood snapping and- oh no. His eyes widened and he ran back down the stairs, noticing a gap in the floor that had definitely not been there before. "You okay?!" he called down, almost falling down into himself when he ran to stand next to it. "Do you need any help up?" He still couldn't see the guy all too well, but he could tell they were in human form now. "You're not hurt, are you? Oh god- I didn't mean to scare you, I'm so sorry-" LAIKA OF ADOXOGRAPHY

Rayn didn't look at the person coming towards him, but certainly knew he was there. He was who he had smelled earlier. He was a male, and he smelled canine. He wasn't a wolf though, he was sure of it. Something more... domesticated? Rayn's yellow eyes scanned in front of him. There were small pieces of wood scattered around him, and the other half-blood was asking if he was okay.
Rayn stood up, but kept his back to the person. "I don't need any help." He said, his gruff voice maintaining a low, almost rude, tone. "I wouldn't even be in this situation if you hadn't been so curious as to disturb my peace." His hoodie, which had fallen off of his head as he fell, was lifted up by Rayn and set back over his head. He didn't care much for the other Therian, and more or less just wanted to find somewhere that was quiet.
Without saying anything more, he began to walk away from him, not having looked him into the eye even once.
(NOT END OF THREAD. I WANT CHASE TO TRY TO GET HIM TO NOT LEAVE :3 )

i'm carrying your light Chase furrowed his eyebrows and frowned when the stranger insisted he didn't need any help. And sure, he probably didn't, but he didn't need to dismiss him like that, either. "Hey..." Chase frowned. Not a lot of things could start to tick him off but this guy was kind of being a jerk. "Look, I'm sorry," he sighed, following the other half-blood because he still had plenty to say to him, whether he liked it or not. "I didn't mean to freak you out. And again, I'm sorry about that, you don't have the right to be all moody and rude just 'cause I 'disturbed your peace' or whatever." Chase didn't like namecalling, or being mean in any way, but Rayn kind of deserved it, and he wanted to make sure he didn't try to act this way around anyone else in the future.
It'd taken him years to figure out how to stand up for himself, and he wasn't going to let anyone like this guy walk all over him, or anyone else ever again.
"So," he started again, standing in front of the wolf half-blood so he couldn't keep walking, and he looked dead into his eyes to show he was serious. He'd move to stand in front of the guy even if he tried to walk around him- it was clear in the way he stood. "Let's try this again," he chirped, regaining his pleasant smile and atmosphere. "I'm Chase. Who are you?" His words were innocent, but there was a hidden warning etched in his tone. He extended his left hand, smiling warmly as he waited for the other to shake it, but there was a hardness in his eyes that made it easy to tell that Chase wouldn't be so nice if Rayn didn't comply. Rayn stayed with his back turned to Chase. He listened as Chase began to talk to him, in which Rayn listened, but didn't really care much for what he was saying. It irritated him how the other Therian followed him. It was none of his business, Rayn wasn't Chase's problem, but Chase was certainly becoming one to Rayn. With his back still turned to Chase, his mouth opened, but no words came out. His brilliantly white teeth shone in the dark, and they were all sharpened to a point.
He turned around and looked at Chase, his eyebrows furrowing and his fists clenching. Rayn was getting rather angry. Removing his hood and looking up at the half-blood, Rayn's bright yellow eyes scanned him. Nothing of his animal half showed, which likely gave more evidence to Rayn's theory of Chase being a quarter. He brushed his bangs out of his eyes.
His took his hand out of his pocket and extended it, shaking the other half-bloods hand. so, his name was Chase? That was a rather stupid name. He licked his lips, which were quite dry. He opened his mouth to begin speaking to the other half-blood, who at this point Rayn just wanted to get this over with, and get Chase out of his hair.
He spoke. 'The name's Rayn. Rayn Trice. Timber wolf half-blood and former king of the Canadian wild."

i'm carrying your light Chase felt his anger rising the more that Rayn refused to look at him, but most of it subsided immediately when he at least shook his hand. Within moments the smile became genuine and the hardness faded from his eyes. Progress! Albeit, slow progress, but progress nonetheless!
"King, eh?" He whistled. "That would explain the ego..." Chase mumbled, rolling his eyes. He fully intended for Rayn to hear the jab but didn't give him much time to react before he spoke again. "I'm a dog- husky and german shepherd. But my mom is a wolf, or partly a wolf. She's part husky, too, like me, but also part wolf, so...huh. I guess that makes me a quarter wolf. Oh wow. Never realized that. That's kinda cool, actually." He tilted his head to the side. "Wait- maybe I'm only an eighth wolf...? Since I'm only half a half-blood and- nope, that's confusing. Just gonna stick with quarter wolf."
"Soooo..." Chase started, this time hoping to achieve a full conversation with the stubborn wolf half-blood. "You come here often? To the underground, I mean. Not this house since that'd be weird. Wait- it's not your house, is it?" LAIKA OF ADOXOGRAPHY

Rayn heard the remark, but thought nothing of it. If anything, he more or less agreed with it. Rayn eyed the boy down as he began talking. Ugh. He rambles. Rayn hated when people rambled. But there was something about this boy, something different. He wasn't like the other half-bloods he had met. He wasn't like any of them. Especially, the one. Rayn shivered as he thought of the one person, and felt his chest, where a large scar, maybe 6-7 inches wide, was sprawled across his chest.
No, this person was much kinder, more sincere. He had a tender heart, and Rayn knew it. He was genuine. He looked him in the eyes now and gave Chase his attention. He listened as he talked, and a small smile grew and the boy's rambling. It was adorable, so to speak. He nodded his head when the boy was done talking.
"I guess I'm here more often than not. There is another place that I go to, a Haven, per say. It's a very nice place too. It's just... The memories of this place. No this wasn't my house, just a spot where I used to come and think." He was saying. "What about you, Chase? You here in the human world much?"

i'm carrying your light Out of the corner of his eye, Chase noticed the way the Rayn's demeanor slowly changed from an angry grump to a slightly more pleasant grump. He'd even gotten the guy to smile, just with his stupid rambling. Aww. Definitely making some progress!
"Haven?" Chase echoed. He'd heard stories- Mom had talked about it, but never seemed too interested in living there herself. She was attached to the human world too much, she'd always say, and though she never admitted it, Chase was pretty sure it was partly because of his father. Her friends, one by one, would leave when it became to dangerous for them to stay, though, and they'd never come back. "I mean, I've heard of it. I know it's out there. I've just never thought of moving there." He couldn't. Not when his mom was still out here, alone. His smile faltered.
"I live here," he answered. "Well, again, not here, in this house, and not in the underground, either. I live up there." He pointed up. "On the surface. Always have. Can't really imagine leaving." He stopped talking for a moment, furrowing his eyebrows. "What's Haven like? I've heard stories but I doubt they really do the place justice." LAIKA OF ADOXOGRAPHY
