P.J. Herzfeld Rhy ran a slender finger along the spines of the books, scouring the titles for something intriguing. He wasn't really sure what he was looking for, a book that he could lose himself in without being reminded of his situation. Annoyingly, it seemed that everything he read could relate to the deaths of his parents, the persecution of half-bloods. Finally, his hand stopped at a thin book with a red-and-white spine. The Umbrella Academy. He gently slid the book from the shelf, examining the cover and then flipping through the inside quickly. Another comic book. He'd found himself poring over comics, graphic novels, and manga more and more these days. They were quick to read and the plot was often softer and fluffier than that of a solid novel. Even if the story was similar to his own, he could enjoy the pictures and colors. Closing the cover of the book, Rhy strode from between the shelves and sank down onto a sofa. There was a boy next to him, appearing to be engaged in whatever he was reading. Rhy didn't want to disturb him, but he was intrigued by the jacket of the boy's book, so he tried to read the title as subtly as he could without the boy noticing or becoming annoyed at him. He didn't need a repeat of the last library incident with Anria.

P.J. had lost count of how many hours he had spent at the library that day. As usual, P.J. didn't care. He was always looking for a distraction, something to keep him busy for a few hours. Books were the perfect solution.
He was reading Coraline at the moment. Peej knew it was more of a kid's book, but it was still a genuinely creepy read. P.J. had gotten sucked into the book, until someone he had not met sat next to him on the sofa.
The teen next to him seemed to be studying the book cover of P.J.'s book, instead of focusing on his own. The small teen knew that when people were around, he couldn't quite properly focus on his book.
"I know, I know...it's dumb I'm reading a kid's book. It's a just really good book, y'know?"

"I know, I know...it's dumb I'm reading a kid's book. It's a just really good book, y'know?" Rhy stiffened as he heard someone address him. The boy next to him had looked up from his novel to fix Rhy with a piercing blue stare. So much for subtlety... oops. "It's not stupid. Coraline's a great book... I used to read it all the time." Rhy smiled, trying to seem as friendly as he could to the boy, who appeared to have a somewhat hostile nature. Rhy didn't want anything to break out. Not that it was likely, but there were quite a few hotheads in Haven and it was a bad idea to tick them off. "Uh, sorry about interrupting you," Rhy continued. "I'll stop talking now."

Wait! No-aw hell...Come on Peej...you have ONE friend at this joint and you don't need people avoiding you.
As much as P.J. liked to make others angry or annoyed, he hated himself when he did it accidentally. He didn't want to be viewed as a bully.
"N-no, it's fine!" he shouted, forgetting he was in a library. "Sorry...I'm not all that great with people...sorry, I just didn't mean to come off as rude." P.J found himself rambling again.
P.J. why can't you just act like a normal person...
"Sorry...um...my name's P.J."

"N-no, it's fine! Sorry...I'm not all that great with people...sorry, I just didn't mean to come off as rude."Rhy smiled at the boy's sudden outburst. It was loud and awkward, but a sweet apology. "No, it's completely fine. I'm the same way most of the time... ergo why I was creepily staring at you and your book instead of just asking you what you were reading." He shrugged. "Sorry...um...my name's P.J."P.J. That was a nice name, short and just a dash mysterious, just like the boy it belonged to. "I'm Rhy. It's short for Ryan, Ryan Snow." Rhy stuck out a hand for the boy to shake, not sure if he would accept it. "If you don't mind me asking, what's P.J. short for?"|Ahhhhhh I'm so so sorry I haven't replied to this. I've been crazy busy catching up on homework and stuff like that... But yes, I'm responding now even though this response is awful and I should actually reply frequently!|

(it's okay! your post is fine ) "No, it's completely fine. I'm the same way most of the time... ergo why I was creepily staring at you and your book instead of just asking you what you were reading."
The smaller teen sighed in relief, and relaxed against the sofa. He smiled softly, and looked over at the boy. "You weren't being creepy, don't worry. I just happen to be easily distracted, sorry." P.J. replied. "I'm Rhy. It's short for Ryan, Ryan Snow."
Rhy...I like the sound of it.P.J. looked down at Ryan's hand, and gently grabbed it with his own. "Nice to make your acquaintance, Rhy." P.J. smiled, gently shaking Ryan's hand. "If you don't mind me asking, what's P.J. short for?"
"Parker Junior. It's not that extravagant of a name, though. It'd be cool if it was like Phoenix Junior or Paris Junior or something."

"Parker Junior. It's not that extravagant of a name, though. It'd be cool if it was like Phoenix Junior or Paris Junior or something." Rhy nodded thoughtfully. "I like the name Parker. It reminds me of Eleanor and Park. I know, that's kind of a girlish book, but it was really good. He shrugged. "P.J. is a nice name, though."

(SUPER sorry for the late reply!!)
Eleanor and Park...Maybe I skimmed it once? Oh yeah...written by Rainbow something or other...
The only thing P.J. could remember about the book was that it was written by, "Rainbow Rowell" and that it was a YA novel. He smirked, and replied, "I guess we both have our own guilty pleasures in literature."
"P.J. is a nice name, though."
Peej's mischievous smirk turned into sweet smile, and a splash of pink arose to his pale cheeks. "Thanks," P.J. thanked. "You can call me Parker, if you want."

(ugh this thread is just so much late posting)
"Whoah, letting me call you Parker instead of P.J.? I feel like our relationship has reached a whole new level... like third base or something." Rhy smirked slightly at his completely stupid joke. "At least let me buy you food or something before we go there." A well-placed grin to show that it was just less-than-witty banter. As he waited for a response from the smaller boy, Rhy's eyes flicked over to observe P.J.'s wings. They were large and black, commanding. They made it rather obvious what type of therian the boy was -- bat. Rhy supposed his animal half would probably come up sooner or later in the conversation, as he had no particularly apparent traits. Sure, it had made his life easier, but Rhy had always thought it would have been amazing to have a tail or something.

P.J. chuckled and smiled a toothy grin, revealing his sharp canines. The light pink blush on his cheeks darkened to a bright red. He wasn't embarrassed, he was happy. "Third base, huh?" P.J responded, keeping the joke going. "Well, food does sound nice. I've been at the library all day...lunch would be pleasant."
The smaller teen could feel himself practically asking Ryan to buy him food. Who could say no to P.J.'s face? Well, there are quite a few...
(augh why must my muse be low)
