SEARCHING IN THE DARKNESS WE ARE CREATURES OF THE NIGHT RUNNING FROM THE DAY Luke Stewart
Anria hadn't been there in quite some. Actually, she hadn't even really left her own house for several weeks, not since everything happened. Though Haven, in itself, was somewhat deserted, it did still possess people. And the idea of being in the presence of real person, away from the seclusion of her home, was utterly frightening. But there was a question: Was it really even her home? Had her residency in Haven, her possession of a house, made her feel at home? Anria puzzled that thought for a moment. It was where she slept, and it was where she kept her belongings, but... was it a home? Anria couldn't decide. She'd changed where she'd stayed many, many times, and nothing had ever compared to the sense of belonging she had felt with her now long-dead family. And even if it was her home, could it still be, now, after everything that had happened? Anria leaned her head against a post of the gazebo. She was sitting at a bench from the little wooden hut overlooking the lake. From her seat, the cliffs of Mount Torture crouched plastered just beyond the water, cradling the lake. A thick forest poured over the hills and into the basin where the water rippled. Perhaps this could be her home. Anria hadn't been evicted yet, so Laura must not have confessed to what had happened. Part of the avian therian wished she had, while the other was grateful she hadn't. Anria sighed. The world was wrong about fresh air: It doesn't really help organize your thoughts.

[googlefont="Griffy"][googlefont="Abel"] SEARCHING IN THE DARKNESS WE ARE CREATURES OF THE NIGHT RUNNING FROM THE DAY It was always her luck that someone would disturb her at a moment when she relally needed the quiet time to think. Anria's hearing, somewhat sharpened by her hawk-half, picked up the crunching of gravel and the soft rustling of fallen leaves and branches some ways in the distance behind her. In a moment or so, the other person would be here, and she would be forced to socialize again. Things would have been so much easier if she still was the bitter, merciless, ruthless woman she had been hardly over a month ago. Well, look at the silver lining, Anria insisted internally. She pondered what that meant. It could be Elodie, coming to speak to her again after that.. awkward meeting. It had been a tender moment, until Elodie had revealed herself to be a human, and Anria, by instinct, had flinched away from her. The two hadn't spoken since. Frustratingly, Anria found herself missing Elodie, despite their initial meeting, the exchange they'd had, and the difference in their overall species. The last time she'd felt anything like that was with Alec. There was a thought: what was it that she was feeling? Anria was finding it awfully hard to label any of these emotions, let alone this longing for a near-stranger that had shown her a moment of kindness. Anria sighed and slid off the bench, turning just as the approaching person arrived. It was a stranger, and immediately her instincts kicked up on notches of unease and caution. She didn't know who this new resident was, and considering she was now well aware of how possible it was for a human to slip through the boundaries, the red-head didn't want to take any chances. "Welcome to Haven?" Anria responded delicately, her bright eyes scanning the figure as she stood in a position that showed both defensiveness and power.

luke, as if he was an old-timey showman tipped his hat to the welcoming red-headed girl and says "well hello! I was I told this place is for people like me... and that I might learn more about my kind. and you could help me with that" luke sits to fill the place of the girl who had just stood up and looked the red-haired therian in the eye saying "I'm luke Stewart".

[googlefont="Griffy"][googlefont="Abel"] SEARCHING IN THE DARKNESS WE ARE CREATURES OF THE NIGHT RUNNING FROM THE DAY He seemed far too at ease in the way he tipped his hat forward. There was no hint of reservation in his voice as far as Anria could detect, which set off both warning alarms and sparks of intrigue. It was uncommon for someone in Haven, especially a newcomer, to be so calm and approachable. Most residents boasted a tragic backstory, a thick mask to hide their true personality under a facade. So either his mask was much more intricate than was typical, or he'd no experience with - maybe just no memory of - a horrific history. Luke Stewart; sounded like something out of a comic - cheesy, but memorable. Anria nodded in return, her sharp hawk vision surveying his every move. "Anria Liana," she responded bluntly. "I'm probably not the best candidate for introducing you to Haven, let alone companionship." Anria narrowed her eyes. This Luke guy was, had she been half-cat, making her hackles rise. She wasn't in a particularly good mindset to participate in combat, given what had occurred the last time she had fought someone, but she was ready and willing to put this young man in his place should the necessity present itself.

"companionship? that's a bit forward." Luke said in a desperate attempt to lighten the mood. Luke snapped his finger and pointed to the seat next to him on the bench with a whimsical smile. he raises his eyebrows and says "sit, tell me about our people, what I missed, where I am and who are you. it's not a choice." luke takes off his hat sets it on the ground next to him looking Anria in the eye the whole time. He then pops lonely a cigarette out of his pocket and begins to insert it into his lips while he crosses his legs.

[googlefont="Griffy"][googlefont="Abel"] SEARCHING IN THE DARKNESS WE ARE CREATURES OF THE NIGHT RUNNING FROM THE DAY Cute. He thought he was funny. Anria sneered. Luke gestured to the space beside him on the bench, and she squinted one eye at him, brow furrowed. Clearly he was adamant about her sticking around, and as much as she'd like to fly off immediately to avoid accidentally snapping his neck and throwing his corpse in the lake, she knew that being more passive and kind was going to require that she actually participate in social interaction. Fluidly, Anria moved to the space beside Luke, turning her head away and towards the horizon while still watching him out of the corner of her eye. When he withdrew a cigarette, she turned a harsh glare on him, and plucked the unlit thing out of his mouth. "Rule number one," Anria stated flatly, flicking the illegal substance away, "No alcohol, drugs, or smoking."
|Lol that's an actual Haven rule. On the site before the reboot, we had a lot of people abusing the right to smoke and drink and do drugs and stuff.|

"I apologize" Luke said as he began to tap his foot in a fidgety manner. "what might those other rules be? I'm deathly confused and have a lot riding on this place. my past is hard to explain, impossible actually. I'm not quite sure why everyone seems so gloomy. I look around in this world and everyone seems to expect that I'd be more sad, reserved, resentful. I'm sorry if I seem more enthusiastic than most others but whatever us humans have to be sad about I forgot. and I don't want anyone to explain it to me." Luke turned his head down to the ground after confessing the sad but unique nature of his existence and asked: "so where am I?"

[googlefont="Griffy"][googlefont="Abel"] SEARCHING IN THE DARKNESS WE ARE CREATURES OF THE NIGHT RUNNING FROM THE DAY Anria narrowed her eyes a touch, running her tongue over the edges of her teeth as she studied him. Clearly he really had no clue what events had led him to Haven. And she knew all too well that the HBES had sent at least one spy into Haven, as far as she knew. But it would be sloppy for them to send Luke without an alibi. The avian therian noticeably flinched when he referred to himself as human. Obviously he was just generalizing, saying he was part of the community. But still... After a prolonged period of hesitation, Anria parted her lips to speak. "Haven." She said frankly, allowing a note of hostility to seep into her voice. "Don't you know what that is? What you are?"
|Yes you do|

Lukes' eyebrows contracted into a worrisome expression. "I know my Chris, my friend Chris told me I was a cat. or half cat or could become a cat. I'm not sure. he also told me a lot of random numbers I needed to know. he said, social secretary.. or something. I'm scared and a little confused. so please for a third time now who am I?" he muttered. Luke looked at Anria with a defined pitiful expression and then gazed away. Luke was scared for the first time in his life. This was familiar but he didn't dig any deeper into his emotions than what he momentarily felt.
