The mysterious eye color changes were confusing and unusual, but Anria, again, shrugged it off and allowed the girl to scramble away. Standing up straight, the red-haired girl stared numbly at the other sobbing girl, allowing several minutes to pass before her legs felt too much like jelly to stand any longer. Anria took a few hesitant steps toward the young woman, flopping down to sit in the leaves., staring into space as she listened to the sobs, the wind, her own heart pounding in a vain effort to conceal her own pain. "I'm.... I'm sorry," Anria said softly, forcing the unusual words from between her teeth. "I'm just... I... I get so frustrated when people make the same mistake I did..." She closed her oddly-colored eyes, focusing her energy on staying as stoic and mysterious as possible. "Name's Anria. White falcon."

Look, Laura, you've been crying for a really long time now. Can you please stop crying? It's kind of embarrassing. I mean, I have a reputation on the line. Skye, you have no reputation. We're both just in Laura's head. Hah, yeah right. You're just jealous 'cause you're not as famous as me. I... I guess I should stop crying now. I probably just seem like a baby. But at this rate I don't really care... Laura, honey, the lady's trying to talk to you.
"I'm.... I'm sorry, I'm just... I... I get so frustrated when people make the same mistake I did..."
Ooh! What mistake? Laura, quit your babbling and listen to this chick! I actually have to agree with Skye. Laura, you really need to hear this lady out. Yeah, I guess you're right.
Laura wiped tears from her eyes and cheeks. She sat up, criss-cross, but her back remained towards the strange woman. She wasn't ready to open up quite yet. And she didn't really want to hear what the red-head had to say... Or did she?
"Name's Anria. White falcon."
Anria! I like it! Sounds like the name of a girl who could really kick some butt! Language, Skye. YOU WANT LANGUAGE? I'LL GIVE YOU LANGUAGE! JUST YOU LISTEN TO ME- SKYE, STOP! Quit yelling and cool down before you'll say something you'll regret! Now, Skye, Laura. Let's make a decision here. Do we want to talk to the girl, or do we want to sit and be quiet and act like a mystery? I say we talk to her. I mean, we should at least say my name. I think she already knows I'm a rattlesnake. Um, hello? People, am I the only one with common sense? Anria sounds cool, but she looks like a crazy chick. I don't wanna talk to her! Well, the ball's in your court, Laura. What do you want to do?
"My name is Laura." The quiet girl tucked a chunk of her white hair behind her ear to reveal her small golden hoop earring.
"My name is Laura." Wow! That's the best you could do? Come ON! Let the poor girl recover, Skye. After all, you do give her a hard time. What are you TALKING about? You give her just as much of a hard time as I do. No I don't. Laura can back me up on this one, right Laura? Laura? Earth to Laura Schön! Hello? Quit ignoring us, we know you're there!

Anria grunted in acknowledgement, refusing to show any emotion or interest in the name itself. She was just glad that she finally had a way to address this Laura. The girl sat quietly yet again, expecting Laura needed time to calm herself and to reflect on what should be said and done next. This time gave Anria the chance consider, reconsider, and revise her course of actions. It had always been clear in her head, since The Betrayal, that she would remain a complete mystery. Anria had forced herself into obliging by a new standard, forced herself into seeming - to sensor in the utmost - like a total jerk. Only this way, she had theorized, could she protect herself. Never mind the chance to hold strength in numbers, she had thought on one of her weaker days. What strength is there if you cant be strong on your own? This common thought coursing through her head, Anria confirmed with herself that she wouldn't reveal anything too important, too intriguing or fundamental about herself. Yet, considering Laura hadn't yet spoken either, Anria realized that it was a possibility that neither of the two girls would woman up and speak like mature people. So what was left? Sit until the moon had withered away? Until the bricks and mortar of the sanctuary had been chiseled away, the wood of the trees and homes rotted into oblivion? In all honestly, Anria would have, and could have, died instead of waiting that long for more of nothing to happen. "Who are they?" Anria asked, not really sure what she was implying. She was only aware that Laura had some serious mood changes, and Anria only believed that confiding in someone about these outbursts would help prevent any of Anria's own mistakes to repeat.

"Who are they?"
ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I HAVE PUT MYSELF OUT THERE SO MANY TIMES AND SHE DOESN'T KNOW WHO I AM? THAT WOMAN IS CRAZY! LET ME AT HER! Skye, no! You'll only make things worse for Laura if you get out there and fight Anria. Laura+Anria=trouble, duh! Connect the dots, Skye! I don't got no dots to connect! I know EXACTLY what I'm doing! LET ME AT HER! NO! Look, Laura, I know you're mad at us. You're trying to control us, I know. I'm part of you, I know what you're thinking. But I really need your help right now. Skye is going to ruin your social life if you let her lash out! You won't get any friends and you'll be stuck with us forever! So please, please just help me right now!
For a moment, Laura's eyes turned red. She buried her head in her hands again, and she felt a slight mood change. She knew that her eyes couldn't be red anymore if she was rather happier than angry- maybe it was Edessa's calming personality that took over. But no- not this time. Laura didn't want her personalities to take control. She wanted to be herself, not some voices in her head. What good would that do her?
"There's... There's Edessa. She's calm and happy, and she has green eyes. But it's funny because she used to have blue eyes when she was human." What am I saying? I may think Edessa was once a human, but telling others sounds weird. I mean, you can't stick a human into your ear and hope it travels to your brain to become a voice in your head. Despite her mixed emotions, she felt rather content in the moment, so she laid down in the leaves and twiddled with a bold orange colored one.
"Then... There's Skye. She's bold and aggressive. She has red eyes. I always think she used to be a wolf before she became a voice in my head." Laura, are you trying to put yourself in an insane asylum? Quit weirding Anria out and act natural!
"And... Then there's me, Laura. Blue eyes." Laura ripped the leaf she had been playing with. She morphed into her rattlesnake form and coiled up to conserve heat.
What is Anria going to think of me now?

It was, in all honesty, an... interesting analogy Laura had come up with in naming the species of her alternate personalities. Granted, Anria herself had no experience with what she was beginning to see as MPD, so she accepted that Laura's thought process would be different than most other people's, if not enhanced. Yet, despite her inexperience, Anria found herself believing she could... What's that word? It rhymes with kelp... HELP this young woman make sense of her feelings, or at least support her in her coping. Having seen Laura morph into her snake form, Anria tensed slightly, hoping this "Skye" personality hadn't taken the reigns. However, seeing that the white-haired girl had no hostile intent, she settled into stretching out on her side for a more relaxed conversation, her head resting on her hand and her other arm draped across her waist in a comfortable fashion. "Here's what I think," Anria began after watching the snake for only a slight hesitation. She didn't even bother asking if Laura wanted her advice, because she would have given it anyway, if not to help then to annoy. "Its true, you have different... voices... in your mind, yet I refuse to believe they are different from one another. The three of you are one and the same, regardless of independent thought, you all want to give yourself the best shot at life you can. That may seem difficult, but its entirely possible." Seeing herself that this explanation may be confusing, Anria persisted without leaving time for a response. "Your personalities; they have the same goal, and different courses. Skye, you said it was, was the more... well, fiery one? She's your instinct, the flight or fight mode. Well, mostly fight, I would say from experience." Anria giggled slightly. "Edessa is the calm, patient one. She's thoughtful, rational, and helps you make the tough choices in life that can't necessarily be decided with a few upper cuts. And you? You're their leader. It may not seem like it, but with your guidance, you can harness both of their assistance, and work as a team to be stronger and smarter than anyone else."
|Well that's rather wordy. Have fun <3|

Hah. Dang right, I'm the fiery one. I'm the flight or fight response, but I fight! Heh! Thoughtful, rational, that sounds like me. I like the sound of thoughtful and rational. Am I really cut out to be a leader? I can hardly decide on what to wear each day. Pink or yellow? I like both colors!
"Yeah... Together we're probably going to achieve more. But I can hardly make decisions- I'm an awful leader. I bet Edessa can hold the reigns better than I can, and she's just a voice in my head!"
I can't lead. Who am I kidding?
Are you kidding me, Laura? You're the best gosh dang leader I've ever seen. When you're fierce and angry enough, you can take down Skye for Pete's sake! You can control us and make us strong. Come on Laura, you got this.

Raising an eyebrow, Anria looked Laura over one more time, just to be sure she was talking to a human being. Er, well, therian being, to be exact. The red-head almost laughed at her ridiculous thought. Calmly reminding herself that she was in the middle of a conversation, Anria returned her thoughts to the present. "I'm an awful leader." "You're the one talking right now, aren't you?" Anria pressed, pointing a finger at this new acquaintance. "Skye is strong. If you can swallow her, you're in control. And she may not like that, but she'll have to suck it up and deal with it, 'cause otherwise you'll all take the fall." Why didn't SHE take the fall when she... did that to me? Anria questioned silently, referring to her past experiences. She kept feeling like every word she spoke to Laura brought back horrible memories, as if the very thought of talking to a real, honest person ripped the layers upon layers of desperately-woven stitches that she had so determinedly created and protected. Why was I the only one that suffered when all I did was tell the truth? Why was I betrayed? Overpowered? A chill made Anria's whole body convulse slightly as she sat staring at her hands in her lap, a very distant look on her drawn face. Why wasn't I strong enough?

"You're the one talking right now, aren't you? Skye is strong. If you can swallow her, you're in control. And she may not like that, but she'll have to suck it up and deal with it, 'cause otherwise you'll all take the fall."
What is that lady talking about? I'm confused- I know she's talking about me, but I don't know what she's saying. Let me at her! I'm going to show her not to talk about me! Skye, Anria wasn't talking about you in a bad way! She, um... She just was telling Laura to... Um, Anria was telling Laura how amazing you were! No, she wasn't! Remember, Anria said Laura has to swallow me! That means I can't talk! I will not be put away, Laura! I will not be put away, Edessa! I WILL NOT BE PUT AWAY, ANRIA!
A sudden flow of anger inundated Laura, and she felt like she was going to throw up. She morphed into her human form, and once she did, her hands clenched into fists and her face felt like it was on fire.
I am a leader... Skye will not take control of me! I am a leader, I am a leader- I AM A LEADER!
The white-haired girl turned around to face Anria. She remained on the forest floor, but her face was not hot anymore- she knew that her eyes weren't red and certainly not green. They could only be one color- blue. Laura felt like herself; she felt like a whole new person, a whole new therian in a whole new world.
But Laura remembered something she had put in the back of her mind because Skye and Edessa were acting up. She remembered a question she was going to ask Anria about, but she remembered she wasn't ready to speak. The troubled girl looked at the red-headed falcon straight in the eyes, not minding Skye screaming at her, nor Edessa's words of wisdom Laura knew she could do without. Laura knew that despite their troubles earlier, despite their fighting, Anria seemed like a mentor- even though the white-haired girl knew the falcon most likely had secrets of her own. Before Laura knew it, her lips were speaking words she never thought she'd ever say:
"Anria, what was your mistake?"

What was that, that stillness and intense focus that Anria felt? She was overcome by an unknown force that pressed her down into the ground as Laura took this new information in. Stoic, docile, and - could it be? Yes, it was fear. Fear that she really couldn't be an impossible wall. Fear that history would repeat itself. No, I deserve this moment of weakness. I have to help myself by helping Laura. She is, after all, just like me, isn't she? "Anria, what was your mistake?" Mistake. A mistake she had made so long ago had affected her for so long. How long ago was it? Weeks? Months, only a few days? A sudden unawareness of time and space blasted in Anria's face like molten rock, frying her skin and causing her to shake uncontrollably. And it was wet - was she drowning? What was this salty liquid that spewed from her eyes and into her mouth? Memories raked their claws along her vulnerable, raw skin, and she was dying, because how else could her life flash in front of her like this? "Trust." Anria nearly choked on the word, her voice hardly a whisper as she struggled against fainting. "I trusted a friend."

"Trust. I trusted a friend."
Wait, I've trusted people and nothing bad happened to me. I trusted my neighbor when he gave me the ticket to the Haven and nothing bad happened- in fact, I'm happy and safe here. He had good intentions. Wait, that's it! If Anria trusted her friend and something bad happened to her, it wasn't her fault... Her friend didn't have good intentions. It wasn't Anria's fault, it was her friend's fault for being a jerk.
Laura looked at Anria straight in the eyes. "I was on the run from the HBES for a while, fleeing from city to city, trying to escape them. However, one day I met an old neighbor of mine, and he gave me his ticket to the Haven. He had good intentions- he was caring more for my safety than his own. When I arrived here, I was happy and safe- nothing bad happened to me. The point is, it's not your fault about your friend. You trusted her, and that wasn't a mistake- in fact, friends should trust each other. It was your friend's fault. She had bad intentions, and you couldn't see that coming- it wasn't your fault. I think... I bet you've got trust issues after her, but...
But you can try trusting me if you want." The white-haired girl tried to seem as friendly and genuine as she could to one of the first shifters she'd met. She was betting this lady had issues, at least that's what it seemed like; but Laura had issues of her own too, so they could work through it together.
