“ I'M CARRYING YOUR LIGHT. So that's what had happened. Or, at least, it was definitely a part of why Anria was acting like that. If it was possible, Chase frowned even more. "That's a pessimistic way to look at it all," he mumbled. "I mean- the world is unfair, yeah, but being a mean just 'cause other people were mean first doesn't make you any better than them. It makes you worse."
"And...change starts with you," he went on, remembering various things his mother had always said. "You shouldn't expect the world to get any better if you don't give any effort to make it so."

Anria had totally spaced out about cocoa Rice Krispies. It probably was in Chase's favor, though, because had she heard the whole 'the world is unfair, life is unfair' spiel one more time she would have undoubtedly pounded him into a pulp on his own doorstep. Anria kind of looked over Chase's right shoulder with a foolish grin, as though a clown were prancing about with a bloody knife in one hand and his own smiling head in the other. Because that would surely be humorous. Who doesn't laugh at decapitated, suicidal and likely homicidal bloody clowns? "I could really go for crepes right now." She ignored whatever comment he might have made about her spacing out and redirected her gaze back on Chase. "With Nutella and strawberries. Doesn't that sound good? Or maybe some chocolate-covered bananas rolled in nuts? Man I could really go for some chocolate right now. Maybe I'm getting my period?"

“ I'M CARRYING YOUR LIGHT. Chase furrowed his eyebrows and frowned, letting out a tight sigh. It was like talking to a wall. He wasn't sure if she was actively trying to ignore him or just so disinterested in what he had to say that she wasn't even trying to pay attention. Either way, it meant that she didn't really care at all.
It was stupid to be disappointed by that- they had only just met, after all, but he was. He knew she could be better. She just had to make the effort, and so far, it seemed clear that she wouldn't. He always liked to believe there was a chance, though.
Chase tried not to make a face when Anria mentioned her period. It's not like he didn't know about them- too many incidents of Mom not flushing had prevented that from being a possibility, and he'd even gone out a few times to get products with her. He was just a little surprised that she was so open about it, even though he was a guy. Usually girls tried to avoid that subject altogether around dudes. It was just more evidence proving that Anria was unbelievably and utterly blunt, whatever the subject might be.
"I've....lost my appetite," Chase mumbled. He just hadn't felt like eating all that much, lately. He had, of course, Mom would have left her grave to make sure he did- but now, he couldn't imagine eating. "If you want something, though, I wouldn't mind paying for it, if you wanted." No, he didn't really like Anria in the slightest, but it'd give him another chance to try and change her mind, and he didn't want to give up just yet.

SEARCHING IN THE DARKNESS WE ARE CREATURES OF THE NIGHT RUNNING FROM THE DAY Chase, undoubtedly, was correct about Anria's bluntness. It wasn't necessarily a conscious decision, but being a bit too open about things seemed to make people not want to pressure her for her deeper thoughts. In theory, it made it seem like Anria had nothing to hide, and, in effect, have nothing unnerving to tell. So, it only made sense to her that being blunt was a key survival tool. The proposition of free food really brightened Anria's mood. She smiled sincerely, which, from all the smirking she had grown accustomed to, resembled a sideways grin. "Sweet, free food?" Anria nodded enthusiastically. "I'm in. I think I'll get a chocolate volcano with strawberries and coffee gelato." Anria rubbed her hands together in anticipation. "Ooooh, and sparkling cider. Yum!"
Trying out this new template. Not sure how I feel about it. Thoughts?

“ I'M CARRYING YOUR LIGHT. ooh! I've seen that one around! I think it fits Anria : D
@ anria Chase was glad that his offer seemed to capture Anria's full attention. At least something did, even if it came at the cost of...well, money. He was a bit taken aback by her smile. Though still crooked, it seemed more sincere than her earlier grins.
That was a win in his book.
"It's not exactly free," Chase reminded her. "I mean, to you, it is, but I'm still paying." He tried to remember how much cash exactly he had brought with him. Probably enough. Hopefully enough. What kind of gentleman would he be if he couldn't even deliver on his offer? That would be embarrassing. "And...don't go too crazy..." he added, but it was more of a mumble and he didn't expect Anria to hear or acknowledge it.
"Uh...you know any places you'd want to get that? I haven't really looked around too much, yet."

[googlefont="Griffy"][googlefont="Abel"] SEARCHING IN THE DARKNESS WE ARE CREATURES OF THE NIGHT RUNNING FROM THE DAY Anria noticed that Chase seemed a little brighter and successful when she agreed, but the joke was on him. If he thought she was going to go easy, he was poorly mistaken. Undoubtedly, that would soon show. "It's not exactly free. I mean, to you, it is, but I'm still paying." She couldn't help but roll her eyes. "That's just a technicality." Did she know where it was? Not really. She hadn't yet been in the marketplace parts of Haven yet, other than groceries or whatnot. "No, but I'm sure a place will have something."
Thanks! I thought so too. I might keep an eye out for another one that reflects her more, but this looks good for now =)
