It was expected of Anria to be in shock or even in anger. The half-blood must have put some trust into Elodie to act so kindly toward her. Elodie expected Anria to be shocked but she didn't know that it would hurt her so much. It hurt her inside to see Anria's reaction especially when she didn't notice the counter behind her as she tried to get away from her. "Oh..." "Do you want me to leave?" Elodie didn't bother to ask Anria if she would like her to finish treating her wound before leaving. Anria put a distance between them so Elodie guessed that Anria didn't want her to touch her nor did she want her to be so close. She won't get over this so quickly.. will she? It's probably best if I leave. "I'm sorry." I thought you knew. The time they spent together was so short and yet it felt like they were already friends if not closer. Of course Anria wouldn't have known. They weren't friends. They didn't tell each other secrets. They were more like acquaintances to each other if anything.

[googlefont="Griffy"][googlefont="Abel"] SEARCHING IN THE DARKNESS WE ARE CREATURES OF THE NIGHT RUNNING FROM THE DAY Anria's eyes glazed over. She could almost smell the blood of her mother, father, sister. She could feel the fear coursing through her veins and the suffocating sensations of grief, regret, and betrayal. Anria had always lived by the principle that she should punish every human she came across. Their species had ruined therians, and the vast majority of them deserved it. She felt compelled to be angry at Elodie, to hurt her. But she just.. couldn't. She was afraid. No, not afraid of Elodie, not exactly. Anria was afraid because she couldn't feel that healthy fear and anger that should have been associated with the accursed word: human. And she was most afraid because, despite this information, she couldn't find it in herself to stop feeling drawn towards Elodie. Why? "Do you want me to leave? I'm sorry." Anria blinked, her eyes searching Elodie. A sudden rush of panic tossed through her. "No, no, please stay, I.." Anria blubbered, extending a hand awkwardly, then, not knowing what to do with it, rested it again. "I'm sorry. That wasn't fair of me. You.. You've done nothing wrong." Anria's eyes fell off to the floor right of Elodie, and she could feel tears welling up behind her eyes. It was clear that her reaction had hurt Elodie, and Anria felt ashamed that she had made her feel that way.

The blonde girl stood there awkwardly as she waited for Anria's answer. Honestly, it was hard for her to look at Anria. It scared her that she had grown so comfortable around Anria. It was too fast but that was how she felt. Anria was kind to her and she liked people that were kind. Kindness made her feel comfortable and safe and yet false kindness could really hurt her for being so blind. "No, no, please stay, I..." "What...?" she said faintly and lifted her head up to look at Anria. "I'm sorry. That wasn't fair of me. You.. You've done nothing wrong." "I'll finish treating your wing and then I'll leave." Elodie couldn't believe Anria as much as she wanted to. There was no way Anria could get over it that quickly. "Would you please tell me what to do next?"

[googlefont="Griffy"][googlefont="Abel"] SEARCHING IN THE DARKNESS WE ARE CREATURES OF THE NIGHT RUNNING FROM THE DAY Anria gaze searched Elodie, her eyes full of shame, fear, and confusion. With a furrowed brow, Anria nodded; that was fair. Obviously she had hurt Elodie, and she wanted to leave. She should be grateful that El even wanted to finish tending her wound. Anria with-held a self-pitying sigh and turned again so her wing was accessible. "Dry it with the gauze," she instructed stoically as she handed Elodie the item in question and tried not to choke on tears. "Use a large bandage to hold a piece of rolled-up dry gauze over the wound. Then use some of the medical tape to keep the bandage in place."

El walked up to Anria and took the gauze from her hand. She turned to the wing and she was cautious as she touched the wound with the gauze. Anria was her instructor and she did everything she said. It was kind of a slow process since Elodie was gentle and she didn't want to hurt Anria by accident. "Did I do it right?" she asked and looked at Anria. Elodie realized how close she was to Anria and she took a step away from her. "Um... I'm sorry.." She was still under the impression that Anria didn't want to be near her if she didn't have to be. El was trying to be respectful of Anria's distance since it had to be a lot to take in. Apparently, it wasn't. Anria kept on catching El off guard and saying things that surprised her. You only came here to see how she was doing. Nobody promised that we would be friends. The blonde found herself trying to put a distance between them. She didn't want to give in to false kindness or to get her hopes up.

[googlefont="Griffy"][googlefont="Abel"] SEARCHING IN THE DARKNESS WE ARE CREATURES OF THE NIGHT RUNNING FROM THE DAY At first, it was unsettling to have Elodie near and touching her wing again. Anria wanted to believe that a human could be safe, but there was still the prevalent strain of knowing that one of them was human - ironic, given that the fearful claim usually is "one of them wasn't human." As Elodie was finishing up, Anria became suddenly aware of how near Elodie had really gotten, and how alright she was with it. A chill coursed down her spine as she realized she could almost feel Elodie right behind her. It was both frustrating and relieving when Elodie stepped back. Anria turned to her with a cautious half-smile, rolling her shoulder and flexing her wing. "It feels alright." Then Elodie seemed sheepish, and Anria felt flushed herself. "It's okay." And the startling thing was that it really was okay.

Elodie sighed with relief and managed to smile a small smile. "Thank goodness.." She was happy that she could help Anria fix her wing. It would bother her very much if she left without finishing her job. She was grateful to Anria for letting her stay and at least do that much for her. "It's okay." Is it really? "O-okay.." El walked around the counter and glanced over at the front door, shifting her gaze back to Anria. "Thank you, Anria. I'm relieved to know that you'll be okay." Why are you talking to her like she's your friend? "I'll go now. Bye.." She waved at Anria before she turned and walked to the front door, opening it and then closing it behind her. (The End!)
