Sam won't be happy if he finds out what I'm up to.. Elodie simply could not forget what happened to them when they first arrived in Haven. They met an avian woman and she looked like she was also going through a rough time like them. Elodie's kindness overcame her shy nature and she wanted to comfort the woman. She wasn't sure of what her real intentions were. Did she think grieving together would make them friends supporting each other in a time of need? Or, did she feel sorry for Anria and wanted to help her in her dark time? It was probably both.
Elodie was nervous and hesitant as she walked up to one of her neighbors and asked if she knew a woman named Anria and where she lived. The woman told her where Anria lived and Elodie thanked her before walking to a house that was supposed to be Anria's. I'm so nervous.. What if she doesn't remember me? I-I guess it doesn't matter.. I just want to see how she's doing. The blonde girl tried to cheer herself up because she was just checking up on Anria. It shouldn't be too long of a conversation between them. Maybe she could get home before Sam could suspect anything.
Elodie pressed the doorbell with her right index finger and took a step back away from the door. The doorbell rang and she stood there with her heart beating fast in her chest. Calm down, calm down... she thought to herself and took deep breaths to calm herself. You can do this.. without Sam. It didn't feel quite right to think that since they were always together. He was always by her side to support her in some way. Elodie wanted to become less dependent on Sam but she didn't want it to drive them apart. That's what she was afraid of. However, a little distance between them couldn't be too bad. It was probably a good thing for them to be apart for a little bit. Elodie waited patiently outside and suddenly a butterfly on her arm caught her attention.
"O-oh.. hi, little one." A sweet smile was displayed on her lips as she admired the butterfly on her arm. Butterflies fascinated Elodie. They were so pretty but so fragile. The butterfly didn't stay on her arm for long before it fluttered away using it's wings that were big compared to it's small body.

SEARCHING IN THE DARKNESS WE ARE CREATURES OF THE NIGHT RUNNING FROM THE DAY A normal person would have gone to the gym to get their heart rate up. Even - and especially - the pre-disaster Anria would have, if not only for the variety of equipment, then for the thrill of watching people squirm in her presence. Being around people didn't seem like the best idea at the moment, even if she had been able to muster up the courage to visit the gym. No, Anria was working up a sweat right at home. For some reason the Counsel had willingly handed over a treadmill when she'd requested furniture, correctly making a conjecture based off her fit form that exercise was a fond past-time of hers. The whirring of the treadmill rang in Anria's ears as she ran at a comfortable pace of an eight-minute mile, lulling her into a state of contemplation. It was all the redundant thoughts she'd been having, about her new encounters, Laura, these things called 'feelings', and so on. All these thoughts were repeated over and over, as had become customary, for the past.. how long had she been cooped up in her house for? Anria had lost track, and nearly run out of food, too. And apparently she'd lost track of how long she'd been running, too. When Anria glanced down, the screen of the treadmill displayed in bright blue that she'd run just over thirteen miles; nearly two hours. Only a half a marathon - something she had done in the past - but it was still quite a bit of running. Anria punched a button on the treadmill and slowed her pace to a walk to cool down. When her heart rate and breathing had reached less dizzying heights, she powered off the machine and slipped into the shower. The wonderful sensation of cold water over her hot skin only lasted a brief while. Anria jumped nearly out of her skin when the doorbell suddenly rang. No one ever spontaneously visited her - it wasn't like she exactly had any friends. And though the idea that danger might be lurking just behind her door was unsettling, it wasn't enough so that the more soldier-esk parts of Anria would be smothered. After a minute in which she wrapped a towel tightly around her body, Anria opened the door, her drenched red hair spilling out over her bare shoulders and back. Anria blinked when she saw Elodie standing there, and all but gawked at her. "Oh.. I, um.." Anria stuttered, blushing slightly, an event that may as well have been as rare as a lunar eclipse for anyone that even remotely knew the therian. "Elodie.. Hi." She paused there, uncertain about what she was expected to do, and well aware that she was naked but for the towel. After a moment where she pinched her lips together and stared at Elodie with her bright blue-green eyes, Anria blinked and looked away, smiling warmly. "Sorry, um.. Would you like to come in?" She asked, stepping away with the door just in case Elodie had the absurd idea to actually enter her home.

The door opened and there was Anria... wrapped in a towel. It all happened so fast that it nearly gave Elodie a heart attack. The poor girl was so nervous about seeing Anria again and she had to open the door like that. Elodie's blue eyes widened and her jaw dropped in complete shock. It was an awkward situation and she had no idea where it was okay to look. Obviously, it would be Anria's face but Elodie couldn't even look at her face. Am I not supposed to look at her at all?! I can't even look at her face! Her blue gaze averted from Anria and her cheeks were red with embarrassment. "H-Hi. I-I'm so sorry to bother you. U-um... I just wanted to see if you were okay.."
"Sorry, um.. Would you like to come in?"
Elodie couldn't believe how flustered she was at the moment. Although, it wasn't her first time being so flustered. She-she asks me THAT? She tried to look at Anria's face but she could only manage a couple glances back and forth. It felt weird to look at Anria for a long time especially with her only being covered with a towel. "U-um... yes." Elodie stood there awkwardly and glanced back at Anria again. Anria had stepped away from the door as if she was inviting Elodie into her house. T-this is too much for me to handle... She was afraid to say no because she didn't want to be rude or hurt Anria's feelings. The blonde-haired girl breathed hesitantly and walked into the house, staying close to the door while she was in the house.
"How are you feeling? I'm sorry about Sam... He's just protective of me." El smiled a little and laughed, "I'm surprised he hasn't grown tired of the role yet..." she trailed off. I always get into some kind of trouble and Sam protects me... I haven't learned anything from it. I rely on him... too much.

SEARCHING IN THE DARKNESS WE ARE CREATURES OF THE NIGHT RUNNING FROM THE DAY Anria shut the door gently behind Elodie and clasped her hands modestly in front of her at a respectful distance. The two kind of hovered there, and it was a welcome relief to Elodie when the other girl started talking. "Thank you, that's very kind of you," Anria responded, and as much as she wanted to drive everyone away, she had to admit, it was nice to have people looking out for her. And even stranger that there was anyone that was willing to, at all. Granted, the mention of Sam brought up some uncomfortable memories, of the events that led up to the morning the three of them had met. But it was clear to Anria that Sam's protectiveness had somewhat rubbed off on Elodie, so she supposed she owed some gratitude to Sam. "It's alright, and I'm alright," Anria said with a sort of humored tone. "It's nice having people that are concerned for your well-being." There was another awkward hesitation. "Well, sorry about my... fashion choices. I was just showering after a run. I'll go find some actual clothes, you just make yourself at home." Again, Anria smiled kindly, and almost shyly in light of her current attire. Somewhat giddily, Anria trotted to her room to change, leaving Elodie to her own accord.

"Thank you, that's very kind of you," "U-um.. it's no problem at all, really." Elodie didn't think she could go on and forget about Anria. She still felt awful for leaving Anria all by herself in the end. Maybe she felt like it was her responsibility to check up on Anria after she abandoned her like that. She thought she learned something from Sam that day but she threw that out the window. It was obvious since she walked right into Anria's house. Elodie smiled at Anria and she started to become more at ease in the stranger's house. Only Elodie could be so easily fooled. She's so nice!
"It's alright, and I'm alright," "I'm glad you're okay." she managed to add that in their conversation before Anria could speak once more. "It's nice having people that are concerned for your well-being." Elodie nodded her head and there was an awkward pause between them. Anria spoke up again and Elodie looked a little startled. It was only for the fact that she thought that she would have been the one to break the silence. "Well, sorry about my... fashion choices. I was just showering after a run. I'll go find some actual clothes, you just make yourself at home."
"O-okay and it's fine. Thank you..." Curiosity got the best of Elodie and she watched as Anria walked off to her room before taking a look around. It was just something to do while she waited but she didn't realize how nosy she was being.

SEARCHING IN THE DARKNESS WE ARE CREATURES OF THE NIGHT RUNNING FROM THE DAY The facade that Anria had been was never shy about her athleticism or combat skills. Her physical traits, dueled with her venomous attitude, made up the majority of the mask she had worn for so many years. It hadn't been long since Laura's injury, and Anria hadn't been able to find the strength to make any changes to her home. She was well aware of how horrible she had become in the wake of her family's death, but there was a significant part of her that longed to be back in that intoxicating sensation of power. Thus, there were quite a number of artifacts around Anria's house that might contribute to creating a different image of Anria than had so far been presented to Elodie. Innumerable awards and plaques concerned with her past participating in martial arts tournaments hung from the walls. A few pictures of Anria posing with sassy smirks and with a variety of weapons were scattered around the home. In her room, Anria pulled on some jeans and a black cami, then twisted her wet hair into a loose bun. With a quick look in the mirror, and a brief thought as to why her appearance should be cared about, Anria ducked out of her room. Using her hawk hearing, Anria located Elodie in the house, and meandered over to her acquaintance with a smile. "Hey."

"Hey." The petite blonde let out a squeak and she blushed with embarrassment. However, her embarrassment was quickly replaced with the emotion of fear. Sam might have been right about Anria. The martial arts awards didn't scare Elodie but the pictures of Anria posing with weapons certainly struck fear in her. Of course, she tried to come up with some good excuse for those. Maybe Anria is a hunter! Wait, why would she hunt animals if she is part bird? Well... some birds are predators. That's still strange.. Did she kill humans? It was mostly the look on Anria's face in those pictures. It looked as if she was proud of it. Or... she has poor taste for photography? I hope so.. Elodie slowly turned around and looked up at the red-haired woman, taking a small step back and laughing nervously. "U-um.. hi. This is a nice house. I-I'm sorry that I was looking around. It's a terrible habit of mine. I tend to get.. distracted easily with my surroundings." And, my curiosity gets the best of me. "So... you have clothes on now." she blurted out. "Oh! Your wing was injured, wasn't it? Is it feeling better?"

SEARCHING IN THE DARKNESS WE ARE CREATURES OF THE NIGHT RUNNING FROM THE DAY The change in Elodie's behavior was somewhat startling for Anria, and she started to grow concerned as it became clear that El was even more uncomfortable around her. Anria licked her lips out of nervous habit, wanting to find justification for the alter-ego imagery scattered about her home. "U-um.. hi. This is a nice house. I-I'm sorry that I was looking around. It's a terrible habit of mine." "Oh, no worries," Anria assured her hastily. "I don't get many visitors. I'm glad you like the place." She shuffled her feet, hoping that Elodie thought nothing of the pictures, though sure the hoping was for naught. "So... you have clothes on now. Oh! Your wing was injured, wasn't it? Is it feeling better?"
Anria beamed and fluttered her eyelashes without realizing it. Elodie's sentence fragments were more than amusing, even if a bit challenging to follow. The therian's wing had, in fact, been injured on the eventful morning that they had met. Anria couldn't help but feel surprised that Elodie had noticed, given the numerous other flaws that the avian woman had been flaunting at the time. She really shouldn't have been all that startled. Clearly this other girl was more invested in Anria's well-being than either of them cared to admit. Anria stretched out the mentioned wing, peering over her own shoulder to look at it. The rear of it had been scraped brutally, and the stretching of the wing was making the wound sting slightly. She had forgotten about the injury, and was embarrassed to realize she hadn't actually tended to it. "Ah, still sore, but I'm sure it's... I'll be alright." Part of Anria still didn't want to admit when she needed help. As much as she hated it, her pride was still smothering her.

"Oh, no worries. I don't get many visitors. I'm glad you like the place." "Yes... It's very nice." That wasn't a lie except for the pictures of Anria posing with weapons. Elodie was freaking out on the inside but she tried not to express that on the outside. Her blue gaze softened as she looked at Anria and she felt herself becoming calmer. Anria was nice to El and she felt like it was wrong of her to judge Anria by some pictures. It almost made her the same as Sam which there was nothing wrong with his personality. He just didn't trust people as easily as El did. That kept him distant but being distant wasn't so bad. He was a lot safer than El was. Elodie decided to take it easy around Anria since the woman didn't do anything... yet. Elodie watched as Anria stretched out the wing that was injured. "Ah, still sore, but I'm sure it's... I'll be alright." "Are you sure? It still looks really bad... Is there anything that I can do to help?" Suddenly, El forgot about the pictures of Anria and she was concerned for her. "Please... I want to help if I can."

SEARCHING IN THE DARKNESS WE ARE CREATURES OF THE NIGHT RUNNING FROM THE DAY Anria passed her gaze over Elodie, hesitating to make any kind of response. The injury was just out of reach, so Anria knew she couldn't appropriately tend to it. To be fair to Elodie, Anria had sustained injuries far worse than a banged up wing, so it was likely that the injury looked relatively worse to her than it was. Thankfully, it hadn't yet shown signs of infection, and wasn't major, but did still need to be flushed and bandaged. And, as stated, Anria couldn't exactly reach it. But she still hesitated. She wanted to be new and improved, yet finding the courage to do so was proving more of a challenge than she anticipated. Anria initial had believed that slipping back into her refined-though-original self would be as easy as letting her walls crumble and fall. It was starting to feel more like a self-performed surgery, however; Painful in process, but the transition much needed. Finally, Anria allowed herself to smile again, even if uncertainly. "If it's not too much to ask, I would really appreciate it." The avian therian nodded her head in the direction of the kitchen, and started walking towards it, hopefully with Elodie in pursuit. "Wash your hands real quick," she instructed, assuming Elodie had, in fact, followed her to the kitchen. From a cabinet, Anria set a large first-aid kit on the counter, from which she withdrew an antiseptic wash, a large bandage, gauze, and a roll of medical tape. Anria then extended her wing over the sink. She pointed to the antiseptic wash, indicating that the wound needed to be flushed - she'd been through this procedure more than a few times. Then she clenched her teeth, prepared for the inevitable sting.
