Asriel laughed - a hollow, soulless noise that made a pigeon squawk and flutter away. "My real regrets are revealing so much to you, half-blood." he said, then paused to listen. He flicked a large ear and smiled at the white hawk's question. "Because, dear half-blood, my mind has been squashed. I cannot feel anything. I will only obey the HBES. How do you feel about that, Anria Liana?"

"Touche," Anria whispered, raising an eyebrow. Her skin was prickling with the simple, grotesque acronym. HBES: Half-Blood Execution Squadron. What did she think about that? Anria thought she was going to be sick, and after swallowing her shudders and other substances, took a step forward. "What do I think?" Her fists clenched. "Your an idiot. You know your under their thumb and you choose to let it be so. You thrive under their boot, ignorant, naive, to the pain you remember all too well." Anria's jaw clenched. Her pupils narrowed and she felt her body straining to prevent a shift. Despite her rage and nausea to the current situation, she was conscious of the vulnerability she would be placing herself in if she shifted at that moment. "I bet they killed your family, your friends. I bet they made you watch. I bet you remember it in sickening detail, and feel completely responsible for every second. Your ashamed of who you are so you let them control you. Your a monster, like them, and your intoxicated by it." Anria was paralyzed. Everything was paralyzed. Then time was reverted to slow motion, then in an instant it was fast-forwarding tenfold. It was totally involuntary. She felt her muscles contract, her arm crossing her body one direction then the other, her brain on auto-drive as she lunged for a punch. It was well-timed with her continuous self-training in martial arts. |Sorry my posts have been a bit inconsistent lately. I'll try to make a post about my reasons thereof in the inactivity board, but to sum it up, my life at home has been hectic. Thanks for your patience! |

Asriel let out another laugh - this time, more of a chuckle. His black eyes flashed as he watched her reaction. The smile melted off his face when Anria accused him of being an idiot under their thumb. He snarled, more animal than human. "Nice try, half-blood. But I must tell you something. I am... not... in... control." his face contorted as his subconsciousness pressed to break free of HBES's grip. "And my family? They're still alive. Somewhere." he said, then clenched his fists. "You know what you are, half-blood? Rude. Judgemental." he managed to say, then winced as his brain was twisted around by some stupid scientists in a lab somewhere. They could probably see through his eyes, too. "Me? A monster? Never." he said sarcastically, a hint of his old voice trickling into it. He paused for a moment and began to think of what to say next, when Anria chose something for him. A punch. Much too slow, with the knuckles and whatnot, but also with the fact that Asriel had trained his entire life being turned into a horrendous, blood-thirsty monster. He raised his palm and felt as the girl's momentum and power ripple his fur, but his face stayed stern and unmoving. "Now now, dear Anria, we don't want to fight, do we." It didn't even sound like a question - more of a statement.

Anria drew a breath to calm herself and return to her typical disapproving demeanor as she shook out her fist. His body, all over surly, was mutated and unnatural to hit, was rock solid and painful to hit so hard. Not in control? What he had said really began to settle. This conversation sounded all to familiar, and Anria found herself almost rebounding to her heartbreaking conversation with Laura. Something flashed behind Asriel's eyes, she could have sworn, but she dismissed this as adrenaline formulation fantasies. "You're an idiot to think they're still alive," she hissed, shaking her head, ignoring the comment about her desire for conflict. Inhale; exhale. Anria's pupils dilated to a more natural, humanly state as she forced her nerves to settle. Her self-training had proved useful, she realized, as her body relaxed and dispelled the hate. It was a difficult action, especially for someone as purely stubborn as Anria, and it took all her strength to grasp her desired composure. "Where are my manners?" She remarked suddenly in a painfully fake chipper voice, a bittersweet smile plaguing her features. "I'm certain you feel as though your struggling to fit in with your... uniqueness... is there any way I can help you adjust to your new torturous lifestyle. Pardon me, I can only assume that you would find such a mundane haven frightfully inconvenient to your prevalent interests."

Asriel grinned, showing his unnatural canine teeth. "My family are alive. I have been promised by... them." he said, then listened to Anria with a cold glare. "Silly half-blood. You really think I need help?" he asked, then shook his head, clucking softly. He licked his lips, moistening them, then flicked his tail, baring his teeth. "My... 'prevalent' interests are the least of my concern. I am much more disgusted by this," he indicated the forest around him, "And how safe all you petty beings think you are." he laughed, then felt something cold and wet hit him in the snout. "Oh, would you look at that. Rain." he said, staring at the girl with an unnerving gaze.

"How can you be so sure they'll keep their word?" The red-head insisted, smirking. She listened with immediate humor as Asriel continued to go on about various such things. She almost laughed when it started to rain. "What?" Anria teased, losing her artificial enthusiasm "You aren't afraid of getting your fur wet, are you?" She shook her head. "Personally, I enjoy it. It's cleansing, no? You can almost pretend it's washing away your ignorance, polishing the blemishes in your personality. I think a little rain would do you good."

Asriel grinned, although, with his eyes, it looked like more of a grimace. "Rain is perfectly fine. My... fur is waterproof, they told me." he said, then smiled. "Trust me. They'll keep their word. And if they don't?" he laughed, baring his teeth. "They'll be dead where they stand." he let out a loud, sharp bark, startling a squirrel off its tree branch. "Hmm, hmm. Oh, dear half-blood, you think the rain is so fine, do you not?" thunder boomed as Asriel spoke, and he smiled, inclining his head in the red-head's direction. "But even the mightiest wings can be brought down with the cool wet rain, eh?" he said, chuckling, staring straight into her eyes, unblinking.

Anria rolled her oddly-colored eyes in response, chuckling under her breath. "Well, aren't you Poe's mutated reincarnation?" She retorted with a smile, ignoring the weight of his words. For the slightest second, as quick as the illumination of lightning that followed her words and as concerning as the rumbled of the proceeding thunder, Anria felt the aching unease that by some foreign power, Asriel had seen through her eyes, into her soul, and down to her fears and memories. It was a startling feeling, and she nearly staggered backwards, only shivering faintly. "I think you've underestimated the real world. After all, you blindly trust them out of fear and ignorance."

Asriel smiled faintly, his eyes flashing as the HBES typed something on their keyboards somewhere. "I do not trust the HBES." he said with a cold tone, moistening his lips again as rain fell down into his mouth. "Let's see how well you do against rain, white hawk." he snarled, suddenly completely mad. Something in his brain started to heat up, possibly a microchip, and he felt it tugging to wrench control. The scientists somewhere made him loosen up, and suddenly he felt light as a feather. He still looked through his own eyes, but now he was powerless, and he watched as his body moved of it's own accord. The thing inhabiting his body laughed, but it was a deep and booming laugh, something primordial. Or so, it sounded like it. He clapped his hands together in delight and spat in the ground in front of him. "Anria Liana. What a pitiful excuse for a measly half-blood. I almost feel bad about doing this." he said in a deep, powerful voice that definitely was NOT Asriel's. "My name is Sheem." the beast said, strolling up and down as he got a feel for the body. Asriel watched, terrified and powerless, and silently willing Anria to run. "I'm here to end your petty lives once and for all." the brute lunged, attempting to slap the girl across the face, for no apparent reason.

Asriels expression shifted, away from the ignorant stoicism that had been present to, for the tiniest of seconds, a frightened, pleading look, then settled on a deliberate, determined, hardhearted arrogance. Anria saw the shift, and it caught her off guard, wondering if there was some other reason Asriel refused to dismiss the HBES. She found herself trusting this thought when this new personality reached forward and slapped her across the cheek. Anria had been lost, wondering if it was possible that two persons with multiple personas resided in haven, and had not been expecting the necessary assault. Adrenaline coursed through her veins, which for any ordinary therian or human, would have been a very bad thing. But it seemed this Sheem was willing a fight. He was strong, unearthly strong, and it had almost sent her staggering a few paces back. She held her ground. Anria rolled her neck, turning her face back to meet Sheem's eyes with a smirk. "Did you know in some places it's illegal to hit a woman? I wonder if that's due to the immense maiming the offender would receive as an immediate punishment?" Standing straight, Anria prepared for the next, inevitable hit, trying to buy herself the time to analyze what had happened to Asriel, or Sheem, or whoever was the real person in that shell. She was well aware that once she began fighting, as Sheem most likely desired, she wouldn't be able to notice the fine details she needed to in order to calm him down. Would be a shame if he ruined all of haven. Better find that off-switch.
