Sheem balled his fists, getting ready for a fight. His eyes glinted as he regarded Anria with a cold glare. "Perhaps I do not adhere to your local laws. Perhaps, Anria Liana, this body cannot be maimed. Perhaps the Half-blood Execution Squadron is full of civilised, welcoming people." the beast cackled at the last point. He tensed suddenly, for about 3 milliseconds, before he leapt, attempting to sucker punch the white hawk in the stomach.

Now Anria was ready. She barely saw Sheem tense - fighting had been a second nature after it happened - and immediately shifted into a hawk, narrowly dodging the blow. Darting to a nearby branch, Anria perched in a tree some twenty feet up, and shifted back into her human form with her huge wings spread out wide in anticipation. "You're insane," she mumbled her blue-green eyes narrowing as she studied the mutant therian. It clicked then, suddenly, that maybe she'd better try a different strategy. Friendliness always seed to work in the movies, and she had already ruled out smart alec remarks and cocky retorts as a way to find whatever core Asriel might have. Anria was rusty at that tactic, and it took some grease for her to even get the gears going at a painfully slow pace. "So why are you helping them?"

Sheem tucked his head in and rolled, coming up under Anria's tree. "I am not insane. You are insane, to think that you are safe here. Remember when you met Lauren Schön? Well, she almost killed you, didn't she? And you almost killed her. So really, we are just speeding up the process." Sheem flashed his canine teeth in a grin and leaped at the tree, turning into an incredibly muscly goat and vaulting off the trunk, landing on a branch. He made his way up easily, and came face-to-face with Anria. "I am one of them." the goat said, then barrelled straight towards the red-head with inhumane power.
(...i'm pretty sure this is godmodding but i'll edit it if you think that the hbes wouldn't be able to see the conversation.)

|We can just pretend he assumed, based off of Anria's facial expressions, that Laura presented her weakness, but yes, the HBES wouldn't be able to see the conversation itself|
Laura. Laura tried to kill me? Tried to kill me? I... tried to kill her? Anria's thoughts scrambled, trying to make sense of what Sheem had said. By the time he had reached her branch in the tree, she had come to the conclusion that it was a lucky guess that had some flaws. He was too quick. One moment she was about to soar into the air once more, out of reach, the next her head was slammed into the ground with a goat mutant over her. Before her head had even stopped ringing, she thrust her knee upwards, aiming for Sheem's groin, attempted to knock him over with an attempted blow from her forearm into the crook of his arm. If that succeeded, she then proceeded to roll out from under him and jump up into the sky to hover, on big white wings, sixty feet above Sheem.

Asriel's soul screamed in Sheem's black eyes as Anria was thrown against the tree. But the girl was tougher than she looked. Sheem chuckled as she attempted to knee his groin. He felt nothing, and his head tilted, eyes boring straight into the red-head's unnatural ones. He turned into his mutant form and tensed for a tiny second before springing up with immense force. He thrust his hand up, Superman style, to attempt to sucker-punch her in the stomach yet again.

Anria felt the air rush out of her from the punch, but she refused to give up. Brute force, or anything she would use against a typical therian or human, clearly wasn't working. Reluctantly, Anria settled on the next best choice. The young woman reached up with two hands, attempted to place them on either side of Sheem's head and tensed her abs to draw her head up. In one fluid motion, she attempted to plant a long kiss on the mutant's lips. In that time, she did something extremely stupid that she had only practiced in her spare time. Failing it would result in an inevitable death. But achieving it? Oh, that would be delicious. So Anria focused her energy, allowing her feet and her feet only to shift, feeling claws replace her toes. If she could just distract him for two seconds...

Sheem grinned as he felt his fist come into contact with her stomach. As the pair free-fell, the mutant tensed, ready to roll and not crack his neck. Surprise registered in his brain as the girl grabbed her. The sudden shock made the beast go limp as Anria kissed him. Sheem's eyes widened and Asriel's soul rushed forward to take the chance. He regained control just in time before he rolled through and onto the ground. Sheem's soul roared in his ears and Asriel's eyes turned blue. He fell onto his knees, a splitting headache spreading across his brain. "AUUGHHH!" he shouted, clenching his fists and rolled backwards. He stood up shakily, frightened eyes darting around and looking for Anria. Another bought of headache racked his brain and he gasped, blinking the tears out of his still blue eyes. "NO!" his eyes went pitch black and he grinned, suddenly Sheem again, but terribly uncoordinated and confused.

What was the one thing that the HBES lacked in their organization? Why was it that children only ever escaped? Compassion, honesty, love. It clicked for Anria there, as she hovered, disoriented but okay, safe out of reach in the air, watching as Sheem, or who ever, struggled with morality. She could have escaped then and there, flown away and escaped and warned all the other therians to capture, maybe even kill, the beast. But she felt herself doused in responsibility and determination. Anria landed before Sheem, relaxing her wings and holding her arms out in surrender. She was well aware that if and when he regained his focus she would inevitable suffer. Yet sh relaxed herself, as difficult as it was, feeling her body return to normal as her toes became toes and her fear became focus. "I'm sorry," she said loudly, her face neutral. "Not for me, but for you. I'm sorry you're numb and can't, won't, remember how badly you hurt." Anria took a careful step forward, hands still up. "You're afraid, angry, and alone. You want only to rip your claws through the flesh of those that hurt you and your friends and family. But you think you're inadequate, a fool to consider fighting the most powerful people in the world. So you hide behind your fear and anger to keep you from thinking about how lonely you are." Anria had to choose her next words carefully, she realized taking a second step forward, as it was likely she had already angered Sheem. "But you're not lonely, not anymore. If you let me, I'll be your friend, and I'll be your friend even if you hate me." Anria took a final step, closing the distance between her and the mutant creature. In slow increments, the therian reached up to wrap her arms around Sheem's neck and attempted to draw him in for an embrace. "Okay?"

Sheem's eyes were unfocused as he scanned the area. Asriel's voice pounded in his ears, and it made it hard to concentrate, so when the red-head landed in front of him, he stumbled backwards. His ears were sharp enough to hear what Anria had to say, though. The sudden kindness made the mutant's face go slack, but in his mind, gears were shifting and coming back to life quickly like a well-oiled machine. The only thing that stopped it, however, was the hug. It was so sudden and unexpected that Sheem's mind creaked to a halt, and his eyes half-closed. If the HBES were there, they weren't doing a thing. Sheem's eyes turned blue, and he squeezed his eyes fully shut, leaning against Anria. After a few moments, he stepped back, sadness etched in his face. "Thank you, Anria." Asriel managed, not looking at her eyes. His voice was a lot more sarcastic now, but still had a hint of boyishness in it, and he managed a tiny, sad smile. "Thank you, but it won't last long. I've managed to hold back.. them .. for as long as I can, but they'll regain control again. I don't have much time. So I just want to say... thank you."

Anria jabbed a finger into his chest, looking at him with a determined face. She was genuinely surprised she wasn't dead, even more so that Asriel was back, but... different. "Don't," she growled, hugging him tight as though he were sand falling through her fingers. "Don't say they'll be back. Fight them because they can't control you if you don't let them. Just remember that it's your mind and your body. " She was quiet for some time, registering what had just happened, that her tough exterior shell was breaking, and that most importantly, she didn't care. Anria looked up, trying to meet his now blue eyes. "You're welcome," she said in a softer voice. "Don't give up, because I won't."
