Anria modestly ignored the increasingly red flushing of P.J.'s cheeks. Leaning back on her elbows, Anria presumed a more comfortable position for a more civilized conversation. "Oh? Comic books, huh?" she inquired rhetorically. "What's your recent work about?" She had never been much of a comic book, manga, graphic novel or otherwise reader, but she was willing to try if it was for someone that she knew.

The 16-year old thought for moment. It had been awhile since he had last worked on his comic, the last time was before he even came to the Haven. "It's called, 'Memoirs of a Maniac'. It's supposed to be about a guy with psychosis who frequently has hallucinations of dark figures threatening his existence. Eventually, he can't take it anymore, and he kills himself. But then, he becomes a dark figure himself that threatens the existence of other psychopaths, and learns that those dark beings were real, and psychopaths can just see into this other dimension." Peej knew he was rambling, but just talking about his comic made him more excited to write and illustrate it.
"I haven't figured out all the stuff on this yet, I'm trying to study human anatomy and psychosis for it." He was lying. With all that time stuck in his room, of COURSE he has thought the entire story through, and designed all the characters. P.J. was just being modest.

Maniacs? Dark figures? Sounded like her kind of book! Anria nodded with honest enthusiasm, listening diligently for the details. "Well, I look forward to reading it," she remarked when he had finished explaining the plot. She had let her guard down, though, and didn't pick up on the lie. "And of course you need to do research. But when you get to the point of procrastination, let me know and I'll be your designated reminder."

"So how'd you get here, Anria?" asked P.J. "I fell through a tree, and landed here." He laughed at the memory. How curious it was to fall through a tree, and land in a safe place for your own kind.

Anria chuckled softly. "Well that sounds much more interesting than how I got here," She responded. "You know, the typical backstory; Outed as a half-blood, whole family murdered, then suddenly finds the mystical portal to Haven." She was successful in sounding dismissive and detached from the subjects, but she was drowning on the inside. And as any sane Anria would, she wasn't going to go spilling her guts about the full story, regardless of how comfortable she was chatting with P.J..

Sounds vague. Eh, who am I to judge? All I said was "I fell through a tree and landed here." Best not to pry, though.
"Y'know, it's really interesting how the whole 'oddly convenient portals to the Haven' works. It's like the deus ex machina of real life." said P.J., looking up at the ceiling of the church.
Huh. There's not enough citizens in the Haven for there to be a full fledged church Mass, and even if everyone here attended, not everyone participates in religion. Is the church only here for praying?

Anria sighed laughter. "Amen to that," She breathed, then, "Well, I wouldn't know. I guess it is. After everything the world has done to us, how can any of us believe in a higher power?" She shrugged, her hand disappearing into a bush of red hair as she itched her scalp. "Sooo I guess it's more for moral appease? And decoration. Definitely decoration."

"True." P.J. agreed, looking around the church. His gaze landed on the old stained glass windows, now green with age.
He stayed quiet for a moment. Silence. That's all there was, silence. There were no birds, no tapping of the feet, and no wind. Soon, a monotone ring filled P.J.'s ears, replacing the silence.
"Hm." P.J. hated that ring. It drove him insane. "So, Anria. Got any weird quirks? I'm an insomniac. I haven't slept in a couple days."

"Well, that sounds like fun," she remarked. Anria leaned on an elbow, gazing upward thoughtfully. She had heard the buzzing, but her hearing wasn't quite as powerful as a bat half-blood's. And even if it did, she really didn't mind. With heightened hearing from her hawk-half, she had gotten used to irritating monotones that most others couldn't hear. It wasn't a big topic to bring up anyway.
"Wierd quirks? Hmm... I'm seven-eighths succubi, if that qualifies?" Anria continued with a wink, her gaze redirected again to her companion. "And I think I might have an issue with being friendly..."

That was awfully optimistic for a heavily pessimistic person.
"So you're really partially succubus? Honestly, that's super cool." P.J. leaned in towards Anria, and put his cheeks in his hands. His bright blue eyes sparkled with wonder. (d UDE I READ THIS AND I REMEMBERED PJ DOESN'T SLEEP AND I WAS GONNA TYPE "hey lucky for me that i can't sleep")
